Restaurant Hallingstuene and their wine bar are located in Geilo center with old school Norwegian interior, a cozy atmosphere, traditional food, and one of the best wine lists in Norway. 

Hallingstuene is run by the famous chef Frode Aga and his wife. And the talented sommelier, Frank Ytterland, is in charge of the wine and the wine bar downstairs.

The restaurant has received several rewards of excellence both for their food and their amazing wine list, which is quite understandable.

  The Á la carte menu offers a wide selection of local and exotic produces with high quality and lots of taste. I would suggest the Rakfisk, whale carpaccio, the grilled mountain trout and the reindeer.

Hallingstuenes wine list is extensive and impressive. They have specialized on traditional French wine, like Burgundy and Bordeaux, and they have managed to collect several great bottles from older vintages too. Some of those bottles are hard to find elsewhere. At least for the same price. -Which makes this restaurant worth a trip on its own.
