Greece

Greek IslandsGreece, or the Greek Islands is a favorite destination for us when it is time to unwind, swim in the blue, blue ocean and enjoy the sun. Perfect for a slow summer vacation. The people are nice, the colors are to die for, and the food is fresh and healthy.

The best way to discover the islands is to fly to Athens or Santorini and book ferry rides wherever you want to explore.

The Cyclades Islands are the most famous and easiest to visit. The steep hills with white houses and blue doors are world famous and stunning. Regular ferries sail from island to island throughout the summer. June and the beginning of July has less tourists than the rest of the summer, but if you visit some of the smaller or less popular islands, you can still find peace and great hotels. My favorite islands are Folegandros, Serifos, Koufonisia, Milos, Sifnos and Santorini. Myconos is beautiful, but expensive and busy. Naxos has some lovely spots, but is crowded. Antiparos is taken over by Norwegians during the summer and has few cool hotels, but is still stunning. Paros has some lovely beaches.
