Norway

Luckily, the number of great restaurants in Norway is increasing. Not just in the capital and the bigger cities, but throughout the country. For the last few years the Norwegian chefs have extinguished themselves in international forums, and names like Eivind Helstrøm, Bent Stiansen, Terje Ness, Arne Brimi, Tom Victor Gausdal, Ole Martin Alfsen, Bjørn Svensson, Andreas Viestad, Dag Tjersland, Geir Magnus Svae, Esben Holmboe-Bang og Geir Skeie have been and are doing great things for the norwegian restaurant business.

Norway has infinite access to fantastic ingredients and products. And they are becoming much better at taking advantage of them. At least in some restaurants. But this is an increasing trend both in Norway and the rest of the restaurant world.

Maaemo, Statholdergaarden and Bagatelle are the only restaurants in Norway rewarded with a star or two in Guide Michelin, but Lille B, Restaurant Eik and Oro Bar & Grill got the distinction as a  «Bib Gourmand», rewarded to restaurants serving great food to a reasonable price. All of these restaurants are located in Oslo.
